I am going to be installing my adjustable spring plates. I am not 100% sure if I know how to do this. Anyone done this before. I got a protractor and a spring plate clamp.. I don't want to have to take it apart after the car is on the ground and find out they are not even or something.. any input would be greatly appreciated.

are you going to set at 18 degrees or do you want to lower the rear? i set the protracter on pan hump-shift mount is flat- and set it at zero. now with spring plate hanging in position you set spring plates at rest position off the lower stops, with torsion bars installed, and set the droop at what degree you need= ie: 17 or 18 degrees or whatever. do both sides at same setting. if you have adjustable spring plates you can fine tune them . i set adjusters at center so i can adjust up or down using these.

I was going to set it at 18, and then use the adjust-ability of the springs to lower/raise the height as needed.
Thanks for the info..

I think I am going to have to send it down to CE and have them install it for me...

I still don't know how to do this. Maybe I will give it another try. I had to take both the torsion bars out. Yes, they are labeled so I know which is left and right! I might call Chirco and see if they can give me some advice. They seems pretty friendly down there. If anyone has any idea on how to do this, come on down! I'll buy the beer!! hehe

Hey I just set mine when we put in the new motor. I believe we used 21 degrees. 1) put the car on jack stands and make sure its level by putting a level in the door jam. 2) After removing the spring plate let the arm hang down and put an angle finder on it, Harbor freight tools sells a magnetic one for five bucks) 3) if the angle is too small you need to pull the plate off twist on notch clockwise. 4) Both sides should match, and changing one side could effect the other, if you can not get the right angle you may need to twist the bar itself one notch.
Have fun, and experiment

Yeah I got mine done. I noticed that since I installed the transmission the spring plate seem a little twisted. I will have to post a picture of what I mean. There is a slight bend in the plate cause of the 4 bolts on the axle tubes. SLIGHT! Is this normal?! Is it cause there isn't and weight on it? Will it be ok once the wheels and tires are on and the car is on it's own weight?
